Zlatan’s Zanku sound was perhaps one of the long lasting sound trends in the music industry.
As short as we expected it to last, it exceeded our expectations, it ran for over a year as the reigning sound trend.
After a stellar exceptional verse on Able God, Zlatan put out a single, Zanku quickly owning the Zanku legwork dance.
The dance style would soon have its own sound as similar to the Shaku Shaku dance and Wobey sound that ruled the soundscape in 2018.
Rapidly, Zlatan notched up collaborations top acts all centered around the Zanku sound – reworked drum arrangements layered on throbbing piano melodies and his distinctive adlibs.
But what contributed to the decline of the sound that lasted for a year?
The Zanku Album, Zlatan’s Debut Project
While Zlatan tried to experiment his strength on other sounds/beats outside Zanku, the project lacked a theme or storyline.
Was it about vibes or struggle?
Listeners were put into confusion on what exactly Zlatan was trying to portray through the album.
You listen to Scopatumanaa, Sunita, If You No Know, and you fell you’ve wasted time and data streaming the album.
While 2020 has offered space for penetration for a new sound, it’s not sure for many 2019 hitmakers yet.
Will Naira Marley Be Affected Since Zanku Sound Has Faded?
Well, Naira Marley‘s sound wasn’t entirely built on the Zanku sound.
It might be a derivative but there are clear distinctions in terms of story telling and hinging his sound mainly on melodies – appealing to the emotions of people.
With this, he’s been able to build not a fanbase but a fandom sort of like a culture who are obsessed about him.
An audience Zlatan failed to accomplish while he was at the apex of the sound chain.
This fandom has enabled him to experiment – Bad Influence and the recently released single with Ms. Banks.
It’s still uncertain at this point if Naira Marley will be able to replicate his 2019 form, but what do you think guys?
Will Naira Marley fade away with the decline the Zanku sound too?
Let’s hear from you
