New York emcee Fred the Godson reportedly died this week due to the coronavirus, prompting a flood of well-wishes from hip-hop artists.
“Sleep in peace my brother….You’ll never be forgotten. LOVE U MAN. I have so much things to say but I’m lost right now,” Jaquae, Fred the Godson’s close collaborator, shared on Instagram on Wednesday.
Fred the Godson was 35 at the time of his death. He was named alongside artists like Kendrick Lamar and Mac Miller to XXL’s 2011 freshman class, an annual list of rising artists.
His mixtape later that year featured stars like PUSHA-T, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Meek Mill and more.
“My little brother ooooh how sad am i, i prayed and prayed and prayed for you all night long,” artist Fat Joe shared Wednesday. “So many dreams so many conversations so many great times we had. I am in shock to say the least i love you soooooooo much little brother it’s been years since i felt this pain. I always wanted the best for you, i played you all my important songs to get your feed back i respect you so much as an artist.”
