Former Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has described Mason Greenwood as the best young player coming through the ranks.
The Belgian striker, who left United in the last summer transfer window in a £75million move to Inter Milan, only played with Greenwood briefly last season. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer effectively chose Greenwood as Lukaku’s replacement, promoting the teenager to the first team picture after his impressive displays for the Under-18s and Under-23s.
Greenwood and Lukaku never started a game together for Solskjaer’s side, but were on the pitch at the end of United’s famous Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain a year ago – and in a Premier League defeat to Arsenal.
Lukaku will have trained with Greenwood on numerous occasions and in a Q&A session with fans on Twitter, the Inter striker was asked:
“best young player at United?”
“Greenwood that boy coldddddd” followed by a “100 per cent” emoji.
