Kaduna State Government Convicts 3 For Violating Lockdown Order

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has secured the conviction of three persons for violation of the lockdown order imposed by the Kaduna State Government.

The convicts: Saidu Zakari Ya’u, Zubairu Ya’u and Mustapha Abdu were arraigned before a mobile court on charges of violation of the restriction of movement order imposed by the state government to prevent the transmission of the Coronavirus.

This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday in Kaduna by NSCDC, Kaduna State Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASC Orndiir Terzungwe.

Terzungwe said that the mobile court on Tuesday found the violators guilty of breaking the lockdown order and imposed a fine of N14,000 on each of the three convicts or and one month community service.

“Today’s conviction has brought to five the number of suspects convicted by the command since the commencement of the lockdown in the state in March this year.”

Reacting to the ruling of the Mobile Court, the State Commandant of NSCDC, Babangida Dutsinma, expressed readiness to work in synergy with all agencies of government in maintaining law and order.

Dutsinma urged residents of the state to obey all lawful orders and reiterated the command ‘s commitment to carry out its statutory duties professionally.

He, however, said that since the lockdown was imposed, most residents had complied with government directive, adding that only few recalcitrant ones had defied the order.

The commandant appealed to residents to obey the guidelines of government and healthcare professionals and maintain social distancing, personal hygiene and use of face masks to contain rise in cases of Covid-19.
