The Oyo State government has spent N2.7 billion in the fight against the spread and containment of the Coronavirus pandemic in the state, the Commissioner for Finance in Oyo State, Akinola Ojo, has said.
The official noted that the amount was spent on setting up of treatment and isolation centres, procurement of palliatives and seedlings for a section of the residents and farmers as well as on procurement of ambulances and the security of the state’s borders, among others.
Mr Ojo, who is a member of the state’s COVID-19 Task Force, gave the account on behalf of the task force via a statement made available to PREMIUM TIMES Tuesday night.
He maintained that the state considered it imperative to inform the public on the expenses on the pandemic in line with the principle of transparency and accountability, which he claimed the governor, Seyi Makinde, is known for.
